About Me
As a Life Master and 6 time Virginia State Champion, chess is my passion. I started learning chess in elementary school and began seriously studying it in middle school. Since that day I have put my effort into being the best chess player I can. In 1990, I was one of only 8 members of the elite American School of Chess taught by Grandmasters. I achieved Master rating in 1990 and Life Master title in 1993, at which time I was ranked #18 among Junior players in the United States. I have won 6 Virginia State Championship. I not only enjoy playing chess to the best of my abilities, but also bringing out that talent in others. During the course of my 28 years of coaching experience, I have pushed countless students to strive to their peak abilities, including the 2015 World Amateur Team Champions. It would be my pleasure to use my ability to push you to the peak of yours!

Online Lessons
Online lessons are available via Zoom. No other software/accounts necessary
In-person Lessons
In-person lessons are suspended for the time being. In-person lessons will resume when COVID restrictions lessen.
Location
I am based out of Northern Virginia, however due to COVID, I am primarily teaching via Zoom. This means I am able to tutor students in any location. All you need is a computer and internet.
